Agriculture and the Environment

Environment and ecosystem conservation are important objectives for our program. To this day, in the natural park of IKSDP in Kitawa we harvest jatropha and sunflowers. The Environmental Project is a substantial driver for local productivity, since other members of the community can replicate the business model benefiting from two effects. The first one is the economic returns, since the seeds can be sold with the purpose of oil extraction; the second refers to the awareness over the potential of the area in terms of productive activities.

Since 2015, the IKSDP Center has a pressing machine that allows to extract oil, edible in the case of sunflowers and combustible in the case of jatropha seeds.
